Oklahoma City Memorial

Hey all! Happy New Year!!! Long time no check in.... we have been in Chicago for 3 weeks visiting friends and family. Our Christmas and New Years were wonderful- busy but so great to be with friends and family.

Today we found ourselves driving through Oklahoma City as we head back to Texas. It’s rainy and gloomy and feels like perfect weather to visit the Oklahoma City Memorial. I’m reminded of the question my kids have asked in the past.... “Mom, why is it always rainy and dark at funerals?” Clearly this has come from the consistent media depictions, but in the moment at the memorial it fits well.

We were all a bit testy as we walked through the memorial. It’s absolutely beautiful and really well done. 168 people lost their lives almost 23 years ago in this spot- I remember watching it on the news while in college. Senseless. Tragic. So so sad. I felt all that over 2 decades ago, but today, walking on that sacred ground, it felt much more real.

Here are a few pictures...
